About 814 Epoxy and More — Erie, PA

We didn't start in the flooring industry. We started in the dirt — learning concrete from the ground up, under people who knew it the way most contractors never will. This is that story.

Where We Come From

814 Epoxy and More exists because of two guys, a masonry company, and a pair of mentors who built things to last.

Joe Fletcher and Rob Kinnison didn't start their careers coating floors. They started them restoring concrete — learning the trade under the late legend, Don Antonio and his son Dominic Antonio, two of the finest masonry contractors in the region. The Antonios taught them how to read concrete. How to evaluate a slab before you touch it. How to repair, restore, and rebuild rather than cover and move on. Rob and Joe cut their teeth in masonry restoration and they've never forgotten where that foundation came from. To this day, they count the Antonios among their closest professional relationships.

That background isn't a detail. It's the whole point. Most epoxy contractors come from the painting trade — they learned to roll products onto surfaces. Rob and Joe learned what's underneath those surfaces first. They understand what concrete does over time, how it moves, what it absorbs, and what it takes to make a coating system bond to it and stay there for fifteen years instead of three.

The drift toward coatings happened naturally. By 2018, 35% of their business at Lake Effect Home Services was resinous flooring work. By 2019, it was 75%. The market was telling them something. They listened.

In 2020, Lake Effect Home Services became 814 Epoxy and More — named for the area code, because that's exactly what they are. An Erie company, built for Erie conditions, by people who live here and know what this climate does to a floor.

Why 814

The 814 area code covers Northwest Pennsylvania — Erie, Crawford, Warren, Venango, and the surrounding region. It's not just a phone number prefix. For anyone from here, it means something. It's identity.

We put it in our name because we're proud to represent this city and this region. We're not a franchise that assigned someone a territory. We're not a national brand that opened a local office. We are Erie. We understand lake-effect winters, freeze-thaw cycling, road salt on concrete, and what a Northwest Pennsylvania slab looks like in March. No out-of-town operation knows this region the way we do — and it shows in every floor we install.

The Team

Four people run 814 Epoxy and More. Between them they bring over 95 years of combined trades experience. Here's who they are.

Joseph (Joe) Fletcher — Head of Sales & Marketing

📸 PHOTO NOTE: Add a photo of Joe here — job site or professional headshot works great.

Joe is the primary client interface for 814 Epoxy and More — the person you're most likely to talk to when you call, email, or request a quote. He drives lead generation, sales strategy, and every piece of marketing that comes out of this company.

Before 814, Joe managed the full backend of Lake Effect Home Services from 2014 to 2020 — handling logistics, finance, marketing, and sales simultaneously. He holds an associate's degree from Erie Business Center (2001) and has spent his career building and running customer-facing operations in the trades.

Joe's background in masonry restoration under Don and Dominic Antonio gave him something most sales-side people in this industry don't have: genuine technical knowledge of what's underneath the coating. He doesn't sell a system he doesn't understand. And when he tells you why your slab needs what it needs, he's not reading from a script — he's telling you what he knows from working with concrete.

Justin Fletcher — Lead Project Manager

📸 PHOTO NOTE: Add a photo of Justin here — on a job site is ideal, shows him in action.

Justin is Joe's first cousin — and if you ask Joe, recruiting him was the best thing he ever did, even if it took years of trying. Justin resisted for a long time. He eventually stopped resisting. The floors got better.

Justin oversees most job sites as the primary crew lead, managing start-to-finish execution and quality control. He brings more than 25 years in construction to every project — focused on roofing, framing, and general trades at varying scales — and his transition into resinous flooring over the past five years has been nothing short of complete. He's now one of the top-tier installers and project overseers in the region.

What sets Justin apart is an attention to detail that borders on obsessive — which is exactly what this work requires. A flake floor with uneven coverage, a metallic coat with contamination, a control joint that wasn't properly filled before the topcoat went down — Justin sees all of it before it becomes a problem. That's not a skill you can teach. You either have it or you don't. Justin has it.

Robert (Rob) Kinnison — Project Manager & HR Lead

📸 PHOTO NOTE: Add a photo of Rob here — job site photo works perfectly.

Rob brings the deepest hands-on flooring experience among the partners, along with 25+ years in the trades. He and Joe built their careers together under the Antonios in masonry restoration, and that shared foundation shows in how they approach every job — substrate first, always.

On a day-to-day basis, Rob operates on a 60/40 split: 60% leading crews in the field — with a particular focus on full broadcast flake systems, which are highly systematized and benefit from his consistent, methodical execution — and 40% managing backend operations, including emerging human resources responsibilities covering recruitment, training, and compliance.

Rob's dual role reflects how 814 actually operates: lean, accountable, and deeply experienced at every level. When Rob is on a job site, the floor gets done right. When he's in the office, the business runs tighter. That combination is rare in a company this size — and it's a significant part of why 814 punches above its weight in the regional market.

John (Johnny) Cerula — Maintenance & Warehouse

📸 PHOTO NOTE: Add a photo of Johnny here — workshop or warehouse photo would suit his character perfectly.

Johnny is the connective tissue that holds the operation together — and if you've met him, you already know that description doesn't fully capture it.

A graduate of Edinboro University with 20 years in the trades, Johnny is a meticulous organizer and a mechanic without parallel. Small engine, truck engine — hell, jet engine — there is nothing he can't take apart and put back together. He's what keeps the office and the floor connected and running smoothly. Equipment maintained, warehouse organized, logistics functional. The work that happens on your job site is clean and on-schedule in no small part because of what Johnny does before the crew ever loads the truck.

His history with resins, woodworking, and live edge work dates back decades — a depth of hands-on material knowledge that quietly informs everything he does. It's not uncommon to see him in the field when a situation calls for his particular expertise. His diverse skill set keeps him always in motion — and if you've met Johnny, you know that's a good thing. He doesn't sit still for long. Neither does the work he touches.

Why It Matters That We're This Crew

There are flooring contractors who show up with a crew you've never met, rolling out a one-day system they learned from a franchise manual. We are not that.

Every 814 Epoxy job is installed by Joe, Justin, Rob, or Johnny — people who have been doing trades work for a combined 95+ years, who trained in masonry and concrete restoration before they ever touched a coating product, and who live and work in the same region you do. When something needs attention after the job is done, you're calling the same people who installed your floor. Not a warranty department. Not a franchise support line. Us.

The 814 name means something to us. It means we're accountable to this community in a way that no national brand or franchise operator can be. We installed floors for JM Eagle, Eriez, Allegheny College, AHN, Slippery Rock University, Plastek Group, and dozens of homeowners and businesses across Northwest Pennsylvania. Those clients know us by name. That's the standard we hold ourselves to on every job — residential garage or industrial facility, same crew, same accountability.

We come from concrete. Not paint. And it shows.
